Halfway There?

Before I delve into the main focus of this blog post - I would like to thank Nathalie over at Blue Dragons Ebooks Reviews for featuring me on her Facebook page as one of the Authors of the Day!

Secondly, I also discovered a promotion for Twin Souls on E-reader News Today! It was posted yesterday, but I only discovered it this morning when I noticed that my sales ranks had jumped a great margin and I searched on Google to find the unexpected, but greatly appreciated, promotion :]

And lastly, I just went to my second book signing this past Saturday. It was a very small event, as it was the first time, and there weren't many sales to be had. You can read more on this at my husband's blog - here.

Now, as some of you may know, I am in the process of writing a whole new series, with whole new characters. Don't take this to mean that I have given up and forgotten Alexis, because I haven't. There is a file on my computer dedicated solely to novels based on Alexis's future, but I did need a break from Nevermore. During that break, I came up with a completely different idea for a paranormal series that I think - or should I say hope - that you will all love, and it will temporarily keep you occupied until further Nevermore-esque books are released.

At this point in time, I am 47,944 words into my new book...and I want to say that I am halfway through writing it, but I honestly cannot say for sure. There are still a number of things that I need to get into this novel, without putting too much into just the first book. I'm really excited about this book, and I think it may be almost entirely unique. Of course, there are so many books out there, that it's impossible for me to know if it is or not - however, it is unique to me!

The King's Hourglass was also a completely unique idea for me, and I hope that some of you will give it a chance. I know that is out of the typical genre for my novels, but if you think about it - this is where I started. I wrote The King's Hourglass years before I ever even thought of Alexis. There is magic and mystery betwixt those digital pages, but it's not quite the same as what you will find in Nevermore.

Look out for Ephemeral, coming out [hopefully] soon!

The King's Hourglass is Here!

I am beyond excited to announce that after eight years since I began the book, after several rewritings, after various character name and scenario changes here and there, and after an entire week dedicated to nothing but editing and formatting, The King's Hourglass, is at last published!

This story was never expected to become anything when I initially began writing it, to be honest. Back when I was seventeen, I spent a few hours here and there writing bits and pieces of this story as a hobby. After a while, it developed into the first full-length novel I ever completed writing. It was completely written by 2008, then left to sit there while I messed around with ideas for the sequel. At that point in time, I didn't know about digital publishing, but I so badly wanted to have my book published. My husband [at that time boyfriend] and I looked into agents and publishing traditionally, but we never really pursued it. The book went untouched for a few more years, until the end of 2011 when I opened up the document again and began changing little things to add more excitement, and it briefly ended here when the idea for a vampire hunter series you are no doubt familiar with popped into my head. And I began my journey with digital publishing, which has been one of the greatest happenings in my life thus far.

All work on Avarial ceased at that point, as I became focused on the life of Alexis Hobbs. In truth, I felt somewhat ashamed for abandoning my first ever book, the one book that I longed for years to have published, but I needed to get this fresh new idea out as soon as possible! And I do not regret that decision, Nevermore has been a success and people continue to ask for more of Alexis [she will be back in your lives before you know it].

But now it is hopefully Divian's time to shine. I hope that you will give this new world and these new characters a chance, and even find new friends in the lands of Dulcor.

Progress & Absence

I have been in the process of working on another book, outside of the Nevermore series, as well as the Avarial series [I speculate that book one of which will be out within the next two months]. Currently, I am thirty thousand words into my new book and am happy with where it is headed.

Unfortunately, the past two months have not been the greatest. I have had a few tragedies occur among my family that postponed some of my writing, followed by some unbearable sinus infections that have prevented me from being able to do much beyond lay in bed all day feeling miserable. However!, I am now feeling much better, things are improving overall, and I'm back to writing at least 1,000 words daily.

I apologize for my absence, but I have always followed the philosophy that family and 'real life' comes before all else - including writing. The good news is that during this time of absence, I have been able to accumulate quite a few ideas for the book I'm focusing on now, future Nevermore-related stories, and books I've not even touched yet.

In other news...Today is my eighth and third year anniversary with my husband, Adam! We met back in 2005, and began our relationship on June 27th of that year. Five years later exactly, we got married in my parents [former] backyard. I cannot believe that three years have already passed since the day we wed, but I wouldn't trade this for anything. He's been here for me throughout the worst of times, and the best of times, and helped me on the path to becoming the author I am today. I would truly be lost without him!

Please bear with me as I get this book out of my head, through my fingertips, and into this laptop! I promise you will have more material to read soon! And for those of you looking forward to more of Alexis and Salem, I hope that you enjoy the temporary break from their lives and enjoy the life of Prince Divian in the upcoming The King's Hourglass. But at the same time, I promise this isn't the end of Alexis!

'Destiny' is Here!

After a grueling nearly twenty-four hour wait trying to get through to Amazon to fix the issue with posting Destiny, I woke up to find an apology e-mail stating they were aware of the issue and were doing what they could to fix it. Then, I promptly went to Amazon.com and there it was! I am beyond excited to have this book released at last - it was the hardest one for me to write thus far, for so many reasons. The amount of research and time I had to dedicate to coming up with important factors leading up to the very end...it was at times unbearable. You will find out what was so complicated about writing this book once you reach the very last few pages.

The book is presently only available on Amazon, but I will keep everyone posted on when it is available for other retailers. I hope you enjoy the last book of the Nevermore series and cannot wait to hear what everyone thinks!

...FEAR NOT! While this may be the end of Alexis's tale, it isn't the end of her story...

Less than Ten

The release of 'Destiny' is less than TEN days away!

Readers, who is your favorite character in the series so far?

My favorite character all along has been Salem :]

Surprise!

I was half-tempted to post this yesterday, but it occurred to me that everyone would assume it was an April Fool's joke [in fact, I revealed it to my best friend and she thought I was teasing her for the 'holiday']. The story itself isn't in progress at all, but I have been toying with the idea of a short story revealing more of Salem's past and life prior to Alexis and came up with this during a bout of messing around in Photoshop yesterday evening.

I hope that you are as excited as I am to learn more about Salem!

One Year!

As of today, I have officially been published for an entire year!

It has been a very exciting, interesting journey that I intend to continue throughout the rest of my life! There is nothing in the world that I enjoy more than writing and sharing my stories with the world. As mentioned in the blog post my husband wrote [which can be found here], Destiny has been completed as far as writing goes and is about to go through the editing stage - I hope to have it released with the next couple of weeks.

Following the end of Nevermore, I have the first novel in my young adult epic fantasy trilogy in preparation for release this summer. While that is going through editing, I will be focusing on the second book in the trilogy, then the third...and we shall see from there!

Fear not, lovers of Nevermore - while Alexis's story is finished, there is plenty to follow-up on with some very specific key characters that you will discover within Destiny :] That shall be my focus after Avarial, unless something else distracts me.

And speaking of Avarial, here is the beautiful cover that was created by the magnificent artist Keith! He will also be designing the covers for the rest of the trilogy :]
